Take Your Clothes off When You dance - Mothers of invention

to a free reading of the Real Frank Zappa book. This should be
required reading in elementary school. He sure had America figured out.
It was a long way from his early groups like the Blackouts.....to this
album. A listen to this will set you straight...................nv
This
runs fairly long............there will be a pop quiz after the lecture.
There is some great stuff in the lecture. I am thinking about the
time Frank was building bombs out in his garage using powdered ping pong
balls and the bomb ignited nearly blowing his balls off and throwing
him across the room. He also loved playing with the mercury in old
thermometers. He blames this for his cancer..............nv
Frank's
magum opus on touring. Ringo and Keith Moon make appearances. The
orchestra had to play inside a barbed wire enclosure complete with watch
towers. The other musician's rooms were bugged and they were often
quite shocked to see things they had discussed privately the night
before in the libretto the next day. I'm Stealing the Towels! nv
Maybe another pop quiz! nv

While
prowling around for Hendrix/Zappa related material I found this.
Recorded at the Fox Theater, Atlanta, accounts for the excellent sound
quality. The Fox Atlanta is one of my favorite venues to catch a live
show. I saw the Clash and the Sex Pistols there. So, here you have
Adrian Belew and Frank paying tribute to Jimi on the 7th anniversary of
Jimi's death. Dueling strats...........nv

Frank Zappa LIVE Jimi Hendrix Tribute 1977
FZ
plays a Tribute to Jimi Hendrix with Adrian Belew on the seventh
anniversary of his death. Recorded Live 9/18/1977 Fox Theater Atlanta,
Georgia.
Frank
talks about Hendrix and Buddy Miles visiting his house. Buddy nodded
out and Jimi busted the crotch out of his jeans while showing off an
intricate dance step. We go from Jimi needing someone to notate his
music so it could be played by other instruments to the assassinations
of 1968. Trending. nv
Frank plays Jimi some more..................nv

PART-TIME THEATRICAL CRITICIZER, HOPPED INTO HIS GLASS
Surprisingly,
the poll results from the music page show 42% for the Mothers. Here
you go, I little selection from 1967's Absolutely Free. Ruthann, did
you know Frank? Hang out with him? Anyone see the Mothers live and/or
have stories about them? I saw them a few times and had a great time.

Mothers and Eric. I am including this as the whispering voice is Eric.
He appears in many places on the album as he was a huge fan....nv

Frank
Zappa penned this legendary doo-wop single while he was still a
teenager. Obviously he was quite enamored with the whole thing. nv
-
Terry Greene Oh, yeaah! Who wouldn't be enamored with El Monte Legion Stadium? Classic doo-wop written by superfreak El Zappa. This man was complicated. Although he appealed enormously to those who've had their minds altered by artful chemistry, he didn't do drugs. Not only that, if you worked for him, YOU didn't do drugs or he'd fire your ass on the spot. Just saying.
-
The Los Angeles Free Press 60's Music Site Reminds me of Jeff 'I'm stealing the towels' Simmons and Zappa having their rooms bugged and recording their private conversations and then adding the material to the libretto for the next day. He had everyone paranoid as hell. And the orchestra was flipping out having to file into work inside the barbwire with zappa conducting from a guard tower.
-
Terry Greene That's insane! Another example of truth is stranger than fiction. Zappa bugged his band members' rooms and used their paranoid conversations as lyrics set to music? No way! And the "... orchestra was flipping out having to file into work inside the barbwire with zappa conducting from a guard tower"? You're as crazy as he was (take as compliment). Please do elaborate. I'm all ears. Seriously.
"Something's gotta be done before America scarfs up the world and shits on it." Frank Zappa 1968 sorry too late frank. nv
